A historic station to discover, share, and live Imagine waking up in a 19th-century railway station, once a meeting point between Portugal and Spain, now transformed into a comfortable and character-filled retreat in the heart of the Serra de São Mamede Natural Park. Train Spot Guesthouse, in the village of Beirã (Marvão), offers much more than just a place to sleep — here, you experience a journey through time, surrounded by the tranquility of nature and the rich culture of the Portuguese-Spanish borderlands. The main building, with 400 m², has been carefully adapted to accommodate up to 14 guests exclusively, preserving the soul and original architectural details of the station. For larger groups, there are also two independent apartments on the same property, each accommodating up to 4 people, allowing for a total capacity of 22 guests. Inside, the large lounge (80 m²) with air conditioning is the perfect meeting point for meals, gatherings, or social moments. There’s also a separate living room with sofas, a TV, and board games, as well as a fully equipped kitchen for those who prefer to prepare their own meals. Outside, a covered porch and a garden invite you to enjoy the long Alentejo afternoons. A year-round destination During your stay, you can explore both the Portuguese and Spanish sides of the border. We’re just minutes from Marvão, Castelo de Vide, and the Roman ruins of Ammaia, but also close to Cáceres and Badajoz in Spain. Nature and history go hand in hand here: hiking trails, birdwatching, Railbikes along the old tracks, horseback riding, and visits to historic villages are just some of the experiences available. "Het is een prachtig initiatief om deze plek in stand te houden. De kamers waren netjes en schoon en Eduardo doet er alles aan om je een onvergetelijke tijd te bezorgen. Hij kent de omgeving op zijn broekzak en heeft alle tijd om je te helpen bij de juiste plekken om te wandelen om te zwemmen of de bezienswaardigheden uit de buurt te vinden. Een bijzonder mooi gebouw evenals het mooie treinstation ernaast met de prachtige blauw/wit tegels met afbeeldingen uit de oude tijd. De spoorrails wordt natuurlijk niet meer gebruikt, maar als je bij zonsondergang op het terras zit voel je de sfeer van weleer ."

"He cogido este sitio por su ubicación, historia y entorno. Una antigua estación de tren que se aprovecho para hacer una Guest House. El edificio esta muy chulo, el interior / zonas comunes todas amuebladas con piezas antiguas. La Deco me ha gustado mucho. La ubicación es perfecta para los que buscan descanso y relax. La gente muy amable, tanto el dueño como D. Celeste la persona que esta ahí todos los idas fueran muy amables."
"Creo que falta un poco de cuidado en general. Los sillones exteriores algunos en malo estado. El césped no cortado en la entrada al edificio y en la zona de descanso lateral. Creo que se podría tener mas en cuenta estos detalles que bajo mi punto de vista hacen la diferencia. Este problema se denota en muchas infra estruturas que son del estado y están bajo una concesión. Los dueños no quieren invertir / mantener algo que no sera suyo. Creo que no es solo un problema del dueño pero del contrato de concesión. Hay una actividad en el almacén de los antiguos trenes que debería estar vinculada de alguna manera a la guesthouse, ya que hay muchos clientes que hacen esta actividad que ni siquiera saben que existe el Train Spot. También es importante decir que NO tienen AC. Hay un ventilador en cada habitación. Yo he pillado por suerte un finde de bajas temperaturas, con lo cual he estado muy a gusto."

The table by the swimming pool had a fabulous vista down the valley to Vizela and beyond; perfect for watching the sunset directly ahead whilst bats fly around and sipping the delicious wine made by the family.
