"The whole experience was a delight, from Pascal meeting us, our fascination with the curios in the apartment and in the shop below, to our friendly departure. It was a delightful coincidence that Pascal and Manu had designed one of their apartments with an Alice in Wonderland theme, and we live in Beverley, East Yorkshire, where in St Mary's Church is a stone carving of the cheeky rabbit which inspired Lewis Carroll's White Rabbit. We shall return to stay with them again in Belleme - a thriving town whereas so many in France have lost their high streets to supermarkets,."

So many beautiful walks and bike rides down in the valley and up into the foothills, surrounded by so much history from stoneage times to the Cathars. Lots of local food and wine culture too with so much choice but especially from our hosts...don't miss their wine tour of Domaine Fontanel as they have an exceptional range of wines....rivesaltes, white, rosé and of course the stunning reds. The Lodge Escala has everything you need and then within a 30 minute drive you can be swimming in the Mediterranean Sea in one direction or soaking up the mountainous chateaus in another. A perfect get away from it all holiday."

"The breakfast was really good. It was a lovely calm atmosphere with lovely people. The historic buildings are on a stud farm breeding and training racehorses. I'd love to take short courses on handling these beautiful animals, if these were ever on offer."
